Alpine Chair
with Henry Wilson
Available at Laker

The Alpine chair is a study in reference and naivete. Working with Henry Wilson, the studio sought to realise a vision of a small, solid and sturdy chair which referenced the traditional Swiss folk chairs of the later 18th century.

Avoiding complication, Alpine uses primary forms to convey a simple, purposefully under-designed appearance. The flat, camtail detail at the rear of the seat, the only feature which seems out of place being the only concession to refinement.

Fabricated wholly from machined, solid timber, Alpine conveys a certain heft in its form. In reality, Alpine is petite in scale and even presents as delicate at certain angles.
